Tues., 6/24 - Spain!

14 pilgrims woke up early to make/renew their consecration to our Blessed Mother at the Grotto of Lordes at 5am before the crowds descended.  After breakfast we loaded up and began the drive to Segovia.  Our guide and bus driver rearranged the schedule so that we could swing by Burgos and visit the Cathedral of St. Mary of Burgos, one of the largest Gothic style Roman Catholic Churches in the world.  It took 200 years to complete construction.  We had limited time inside and photos were limited, but Fr. Ray said it's the most beautiful church we've visit on this pilgrimage.  I don't think anyone disagrees.  From there we made the remaining two hour drive to Segovia where we went on an hour and a half of the Cathedral of Segovia, saw the Roman Aqueduct, and then walked to tour before celebrating Mass at the tomb of St. John of the Cross at the Carmel Monastery.  Darrell and Lauren Carney celebrated their 30th anniversary by renewing their vows of marriage at the end of Mass.  The hotel is a beautiful surprise.  After some booking issue with our original hotel, 206 Tours upgraded us to the Hotel Segoiva Capuchinos, a 5 star hotel - very nice digs!
