Sun., 5/22 - Toulouse before Lourdes

After breakfast we started the four hour bus ride to Toulouse for Mass at the Basilica of St. Sernim and to visit St. Thomas Aquinas on the Feast of the Holy Trinity.  The Basilica of St. Sernim is nearly 1,000 years old and is the largest remaining Romanesque building in the world.  We were gifted with Mass at behind the tomb of St. Sernim, an area of the Church that is only opened for Mass typically once a year, on the Feast of St. Sernim - wow!  It was amazingly beautiful.  Many thanks to the kind sacristan!  We then visited the Church of the Jacobians where St. Thomas Aquinas is laid to rest and then the Basilica Notre-Dame de la Daurade.  After Mass at St. Sernim, we took time for lunch and happened upon a country music dance party in the rain on the main square, La place du Capitole, in Toulouse.  We eventually left Toulouse for the two hour drive to Lourdes.

Finally!!!  An Autogrill!
